In association with Living Arts Inc of New York Patricia Murray-Bett is representing in the UK the comedy two-hander 'A Couple of Blaguards'. Created by the brothers Frank McCourt and Malachy McCourt, this comedy with incidental music is autobiographical and spans their years growing up in Ireland and their escape to America in search of a better life. The tales spun by the Frank and Malachy characters simmer with bitter-sweet recollections and ferocious humour. A brilliantly structured comedy, this fast paced marvel is a proven crowd-pleaser offering solid entertainment value. It runs one hour and forty-five minutes, with interval. Easy to stage, the production requires two seasoned actors, a table, two chairs, minimal props, and a handful of costumes. Technically a stage would be nice, with lights that turn on and off and about twenty lamps to keep it nicely lit, and a sound system. An easy production Blaguards can do one nights, weeks and split weeks is perfect for all UK theatres. Now Booking. Frank McCourt is arguably the literary phenomenon of the 90s. Angelas Ashes sold millions of copies and has been translated into at least 26 languages. His second book 'Tis is also a major bestseller and his award-winning audio tapes sell in the hundreds of thousands world-wide. Malachy McCourt is best known as a film, stage and television actor, but his first book A Monk Swimming has also made him a best-selling author. His second book Singing My Him Song was released in 2000. A Couple of Blaguards is the comedic springboard for Angela's Ashes, 'Tis, and Malachy McCourt's A Monk Swimming. "MEMORABLE! The brothers McCourt bring their two best-selling books to the stage…..the show has a roguish appeal." The New York Times "WICKEDLY FUNNY! A Rollicking good time!" Time Out New York "AN UNHOLY AMOUNT OF CHARM." The Washington Post
