In the UK the debut tour of the KIEV CLASSICAL BALLET took place in 2006/2007 under the banner of Classical Events whose core aim is presenting new productions and debut appearances in dance, opera, ballet and classical music.

Kiev is one of the greatest names in ballet, ranking with the Kirov and Bolshoi companies The resident ballet company was established in the 1860's and for the past one hundred and fifty years, Kiev ballet has dazzled audiences with its artistry and technical brilliance and developed a reputation for its excellent performance and productions. Their Choreographic School has a legendary reputation and has produced some of the world's greatest dancers.

The company's repertoire is comprised of the great Russian classical ballets, including Swan Lake, Don Quixote, La Bayadere and Raymonda, and eternal favourites. The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty. Especially for children they perform an enchanting introduction to ballet with Snow White - The Ballet.

The outstanding dancers from the company have won Gold Medals at the London Festival of Dance, Laureates at international ballet competitions in Moscow, Tokyo and Varna, and received the coveted Anna Pavlova and Njinski Prizes. Popular throughout the world, Kiev Classical Ballet has performed in Italy, France, the USA, Luxembourg, Monte Carlo, Japan, India, Finland, Syria, Belgium, Peru, Czechoslovakia, the former Yugoslavia and Argentina.

Conducting the 38-piece orchestra is Aleksei Baklan, who thrilled UK audiences at the Kiev Ballet debut and on each visit to the UK has presented his orchestra at the Cadogan Hall London with superb Christmas Celebration Concerts, to great audience appreciation. Aleksei was born into a family of famous ballet soloists of the Kiev Ballet Theatre, so his conducting of ballet is almost beyond compare. He is a frequent guest conductor in Japan and the Americas.
