Classical Events is a lively young company committed to new work and debut appearances whose business is mainly international. In the UK the company is proud to introduce for Christmas and New Year 2005-2006 the first visit to the UK of the Russian Classical Ballet of the Ukraine, a company of high repute in the international arena of classical dance. The ballet company visit Cardiff St David’s Hall and the Fairfield Hall, Croydon on their UK debut, and they will present the world’s most famous classical ballet titles, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Swan Lake. THE RUSSIAN CLASSICAL BALLET OF THE UKRAINE Founded in 1933, The Russian Classical Ballet of the Ukraine has a proud tradition and a long pedigree and has firmly established itself as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies. The soloists and corps de ballet are quite simply superb and never fail to delight audiences with their breathtaking ability and beautiful costumes. The company’s superb reputation was further enhanced by the arrival in 1996 of Vadim Pisarev as Artistic Director. Since retiring as a dancer thrilling audiences worldwide with his fantastic technical ability and flair, his work as a director is now appreciated in equal measure as he presents the breathtaking productions of the Russian Classical Ballet of the Ukraine to great acclaim in China, Europe and the USA. The Russian Classical Ballet of the Ukraine is the resident company at the Donetsk Opera House, and is joined by fellow residents, the Prokofiev Orchestra, named after the famous composer who was born in Donetsk.
